CHALLENGES IN VETERINARY MEDICINE

Problems in my faculty

Hello, I study at the University of Chile, the career of veterinary medicine in the faculty of veterinary science and livestock, which is located in Santa Rosa, commune of La Pintana. This faculty is the best in the career that impart, and is among the best in the world, which makes us very proud.

However, the faculty needs many improvements, which will detail later. My faculty has long brings different problems to be improved, for example, Secretary of study is very inefficient, some gaps are etched teaching units to make your subject in full freedom, the casino is very expensive and poor quality . In addition, faculty need to improve facilities to practice with cattle and horses in a better way and do a redesign of the multidisciplinary laboratory, which conducted much practical work, therefore, this laboratory is faced a great use microscopes that causes deterioration and create problems in using them.

To improve these situations, in my opinion the university should invest more money in our faculty so that there are no significant differences as compared with other faculties. Furthermore, within the faculty is a mismanagement of resources, which should be used to train teachers and improve practices.
Finally, these improvements would generate great impact on the community which would be greatly appreciated as it would be much improved flaws that students need.

"Our islands are dying"

The Robinson Crusoe islands (Chile) has a great diversity of flora and fauna can only find in that wonderful place and nowhere else in the world.

At present the fauna of the island is very threatened by other species introduced by settlers for its ancient and contemporary productive advantage, feeding and protecting their homes.

The Chilean government address this problem has reacted to exercise any changes.

The Juan Fernandez fire crown, a tiny, ginger hummingbird found solely on Robinson Crusoe Island, and one of the rarest birds in the world. He has lost territory in which to feed them because they have been domestic cats depredated greatly.

On the one hand, animal species have been introduced as goats, cattle, sheep, rats, mice horses and rabbits led to irreversible erosion and predators.

On the other hand, New plants arrived with immigrants and flowers skipped over garden fences to colonise disturbed land and oust vegetation which had evolved over 4 million years.

The consensus among conservation scientists is shoot the goats, poison the rats, grub out the bramble. The eradication program has caused great results in the islands of New Zealand, so it was decided to use in the Islands of Juan Fernandez.

The Horse (Equus ferus)

My favorite animal is the horse, this animal always has caught my attention because of its power, form and agility to work and develop in different areas (such as riding and racing).

This port like horses inculcate me my father, from small to work with them in the field, and thanks to this animal attracts me.

Now I will talk more in detail about this beautiful animal:

The horse (Equus ferus caballus) is a hoofed (ungulate) mammal, a subspecies of one of seven extant species of the family Equidae. The horse has evolved over the past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi-toed creature into the large, single-toed animal of today. Humans began to domesticate horses around 4000 BCE, and their domestication is believed to have been widespread by 3000 BCE. Although most horses today are domesticated, there are still endangered populations of the Przewalski's Horse, the only remaining true wild horse, as well as more common feral horses which live in the wild but are descended from domesticated ancestors.

Horse breeds are loosely divided into three categories based on general temperament:
spirited "hot bloods" with speed and endurance; "cold bloods", such as draft horses and some ponies, suitable for slow, heavy work; and "warmbloods", developed from crosses between hot bloods and cold bloods, often focusing on creating breeds for specific riding purposes, particularly in Europe. There are over 300 breeds of horses in the world today, developed for many different uses.

Horses and humans interact in many ways, not only in a wide variety of sport competitions and non-competitive recreational pursuits, but also in working activities including police work, agriculture, entertainment, assisted learning and therapy. Horses were historically used in warfare. A wide variety of riding and driving techniques have been developed, using many different styles of equipment and methods of control. Many products are derived from horses, including meat, hide, hair, bone, and pharmaceuticals extracted from the urine of pregnant mares. Humans provide domesticated horses with food, water and shelter, as well as attention from specialists such as veterinarians and farriers.

In conclusion I am passionate about this fantastic animal and is one of the major reasons for study veterinary medicine, because I believe that through our human population has benefited very much. And studying this profession can restore them by hand.

You have to know...

Santiago is an attractive city that owns great amount for the foreign tourists. In my opinion a tourist must visit in his demurrage by the capital is the Bellavista District. The Bellavista district is a sector of the city of Santiago of Chile, located between the North shore of the river Mapocho and the Hill San Cristóbal, with the street Pío Nono like spine. In his beginnings it was a catholic and aristocratic zone, whereas nowadays great Bohemian, cultural centers and international gastronomy coexist.

In the district encue the House " The Chascona" of Pablo Neruda, the property of the poet is the Hill San Cristobal near. In this property it coexisted next to his last wife, Matilde Urrutia. Today this turned into museum, is possible to visit every day except Mondays.

Another attractiveness that is very recommendable is the Funicular one in the Metropolitan park of Santiago, at the end of the street Pio Nono is the funicular one that it arrives at the summit from the hill San Cristobal. The Metropolitan Park of Santiago is formed by all the Hill San Cristobal and his adjacent lands and within his facilities the zoological national is located.

As far as gastronomy which I recommend it is the sector orients of the bellavista District, specifically in the street Constitution between Dardignac and Antonia Lopez of Beautiful are restaurants of high kitchen that offer one varied gastronomy. Also the Central Market hubicado in the apple defined by the streets Bridge, Ismael Valdéz Vergara, 21 of May and San Pablo, in the commune of Santiago, nowadays is a place recognized by its exquisite gastronomy, where it has been known to conserve ancestral Creole prescriptions, comprising of the National Patrimony.

TO BE CHILEAN...

Be Chilean is more to be born in Chile, is to believe in their traditions and idiosyncrasies.

Chile is an award-around the whole world, is always the knavery is doing everywhere, looking to make it easier or try not to pay anything.

That is why, in some countries discriminate against us.

The Chileans have a trademark that includes being talkative, “picarones”, crooks, "caretakers", kind, ambitious, revelers, wasteful, individualistic, competitive, courageous, suffered, sacrificed, loose, comfortable and irresponsible.

On the other hand, when in September we celebrate our independence from Spanish rule in 1810, with all native customs like raising our kites, playing the "trompo", with the top, to the "enzacados" Chilean races, attend the rodeo, etcetera. But above all, celebrate in the "fondas" (as the Yein Fonda xD!) that are installed around the whole country, where they dance “cueca” and very much “cumbia”, and most importantly, eat the best “empanadas”, “anticuchos” and “choripanes” in the world. We also drink sweeter drinks and delicious as the tasting of "chicha", and the earthqueake. jajaja!!!

In conclusion, in my opinion the best of these dates chilenidad is seen as a country with many problems and needs, can smile and celebrate for three days (17, 18 and 19 September) for their homeland.

TRANSANTIAGO >>

Seems " Transantiago" has been a positive change for Santiago, then, in spite of the complications that it had at the outset at the beginning, fodder that has been evolving for better; because the buses happen with time with but frequency.

By all means everything is not positive, there still are some things that should be fixed, for example, the frequency of buses; the 212 that passes through the faculty should by but to be followed, although the equal one happens with certain frequency, is not the ideal. Another example like this is the frequency of the H14 that happens very distantly (it passes more or less each half an hour). But independent of all this, the balance that I do on this service is positive because step by step it has been improved, the buses in its majority happen with but frequency, the tracks for these have been improved so that they circulate with greater rapidity and thus not to wait for so much a bus.

Practically I use this kind of transportation all the time, reason why I am authorized voice for commenting and reiterate indicated above, my balance for this service is positive and practically I do not have bad things that to say.

ITALY

One of my dreams is to know Italy, is a country located on the Italian Peninsula in Southern Europe, because his big story always struck me.

I would love to know the capital of Italy, Rome, the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Tower of Pisa, Venice and Florence and its cathedral.

In Italy I'd like to taste the most exquisite dishes on the best restaurant, traveling by Florencia shelves and walk the whole plaza of Saint Peter in Rome, but above all to know many many people.

My intentions in Italy are to study a master's or graduate studies at the University of Bologna in Bologna. To pay my expenses to work part time at a restaurant and a not so distant future I hope, live there.

When this living in Italy I like to know the countries neighboring, like Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Swiss, and in them to know its culture and its monuments.

Finally, I have two dreams in Europe, is to be able to go Grand Slam of tennis like Wimbledon in the United Kingdom and Roland Garros in France. Because, I like so much this sport, and see a concert outdoors.

In conclusion, Italy is the country of my dreams.
